Hello

Mr. Douglas Potter and Jason Brody
Queensboro Community College Gallery Show, 1999

Jason's Story

Jason met Mr. Potter during his junior year of high school in Benjamin N. Cardozo. He immediately became entranced by Room 317 and the work of Portfolio students. Over the next two years, Jason's life would be completely changed as he became more involved in Mr. Potter's class and began to create his own Portfolio.

By his senior year, Jason was one of five students chosen nationally for the Scholastic Art and Writing Portfolio award. He was accepted through Early Action to Yale University and completed his BA in Religious Studies. He then obtained a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Chatham University. He currently lives in Maryland and works as a physician assistant in psychiatry and clinical trial research.

Jason looks back on his two years working with Mr. Potter as one of the most formative of his life. Through Mr. Potter's teaching, he learned to become more creative and approach his life as a journey through the lens of questioning and confrontation. He recounts his experience in How to Draw Your Namein which he explores Mr. Potter's teaching philosophy and methods, as well as the impact it had on his students.

Jason maintains the How to Draw Your Name website.
